I am so impressed with my new shower filter. I did a lot of research to try and pick the best one. I am very happy and would recommend this one to anyone. It is heavy duty chrome - very nice looking - much better than the white plastic ones I've had in the past. Super easy to install - make sure you put the plumber tape on the part that you connect the shower head to - otherwise it will leak. I have no leaks - it works great! I love a shower with really good water pressure and I was concerned that these filters would decrease the water pressure, but I am so happy that this one did not affect the water pressure at all. If anything, it is better because my head is now closer to the shower head (because the filter dropped the shower head by 3.5").

I'd say these filters are about average as far as these kinds of filters go. I use them in my Brita glass pitcher and they fit perfectly. They do NOT take out everything though. I did notice that they do not remove much chlorine, I really don't know how much they remove. I noticed this because I poured a glass of water and drank some, and when I went back to drink some more about 20 minutes later (the water was warmer) it really reeked of chlorine. I have since installed a reverse osmosis system under the kitchen sink which does a much better job of filtering water. I would recommend the reverse osmosis system under the sink over this type of filter. Or use them together, ie. install an RO system and then put that water in your Brita (or similar type) pitcher for further filtration. That should give you much better quality drinking water!!

Doulton Ultracarb Ceramic Replacement Water Filter Candle Review

For years I paid for bottled water. When I had to start living on my tiny Social Security check, I went to the National Sanitation Foundation's website and compared all kinds of filter systems. The Doulton System, which filters both chemicals and live organisms, has either the exact same NSF rating or BETTER rating than some of the systems out there which cost $500 and up. I have been using it for over a year now, have saved hundreds of dollars on bottled water, and the Doulton filtered water is crystal clear and tastes fabulous. The other reviewer who says the little part broke off the bottom, he must have been very rough with his filter. You do have to take the thing apart every so often to clean off the filter, but I have never had a problem with it breaking. I do admit though, that It is kind of gross to clean it, but you need to do that because the flow of water decreases when the filter needs cleaning. I recommend this system as A+++!

Watts Premier 560077 EZ RO4 Annual Replacement Filter, 5-pack Review

When our apartment was renovated this last year the installation of beautiful new Moen faucets in our kitchen rendered our old and much used top-of-sink filter useless. The replacement of it with an under-the-sink version from Multi-pure was a very expensive option. We looked for another solution. As I ALWAYS do these days I checked Amazon first and found this system for about half the price of the Multi-pure. As luck would have it a friend had recently purchased one of these reverse osmosis systems and was raving bout it. The other reviews here on Amazon were largely raves as well so I ordered one.

Several of the Amazon reviewers mentioned that they had installed it easily. I can't really speak to this as the maintenance kid in our building was happy to install it for us. He discovered and it bears mentioning that we needed an adapter in order to install it as we have a garbage disposal unit. It was easily obtainable from Amazon and was in hand whithin a couple of days. It was then a matter of about a half an hour for our maintenance person Kevin to install the system.

Our building is older and the water had tested positive for a number of contaminants including lead and of course chlorine, which we could smell. Subsequent testing showed DRAMATIC reductions in all contaminants and we no longer smell chlorine. Thanks Amazon! AND Kevin!

It works well, discharging some water when you invert the 5 gallon water bottle over the cooler. The ball cock is plastic and wants to float too soon after inversion. If it was stainless steel the cooler's built in extender would lift the ball after inversion not allowing for any water discharge except into the cooler. There is a small amount of spillage compared to inverting without the Easy Load. Do not invert unless you are over the cooler because the ballcock will rise and allow water to discharge from the bottle. A 5 gallon bottle filled is close to 40 pounds. Not an easy task for most people to handle.

We've been using these filters for years because without them, our water is at times visibly muddy. They do filter well enough for washing dishes, showering, laundry, etc. ; but I still don't trust it for drinking water. We added this Just Water Filter Kit for more capacity in our Stay-where-you-are system. Indeed, we considered a Berkey but could not envision enough improvement to justify the considerably higher price. Why pay for a stainless steel container good enough to last for 10 years of constant use when the most probable length of a water emergency is less than two months?

The Just Water Kit was quite easy to install on a 6-gallon food grade plastic container and lid. We used a small square plastic container originally holding dishwater soap for the unfiltered water container on top. It fit the 6-gallon container lid like a glove.

Highly recommend both products.
