I purchased the original GE Housing Unit (attaches to faucet) at a big box store. It came complete w/first filter. I now order my replacement filters at Amazon.com. It's more convenient than going to the store(s), and the prices are store comparable. The (positive) difference in the water taste is absolutlely remarkable. They can brag, and rightfully so, about all the unwanted contaminants the GE filter reduces. So be it. ALL I KNOW IS, I WANTED GOOD TASTING WATER!!! Now I Have It. My faucet filter operates exactly as it was designed to do. Easy operation. Simply turn "chrome" dome to desired water mode. The faucet will automatically return to TAP WATER mode when faucet is turned off. Great Feature. You won't have to watch your precious filtered water go down the drain when Uncle Earl finally decides to wash his hands. It comes w/a replaceable cell battery which operates the "THE THREE LITTLE LIGHTS". I find only one of these lights useful. THE AMBER LIGHT lets you know when the filter OR the battery needs replaceing. No hard guessing. The battery will outlast the filter. The filter slows to a trickle when replacement is needed. You might want to jot down on a calendar the dates of filter replacements. This will give you a ballpark figure on YOUR filters longevity. I am the sole user of mine. It lasts me about three and a half to four months. Oh, about those 2 "other" lights. They let me "know" when I'm on Spray mode or Filtered Water. I can SEE when the water is spraying!
