ProPur KING Stainless Steel Water Purification: Includes 2 ProBlack-D Domed Hi-Performance Filter Elements (NSF-42 certified). Review

**I purchased my propur king water purification system from the alex jones website. This review is not based on this seller, but the product**

I was a little weary of purchasing this setup after reading the reviews, but after having drank Berkey water from two different friend's systems (living in the same area as I do, so the water source is the exact same), I thought, hey- i'll take my chances. To me and my husband, Berkey water has an off taste. I can't describe it...it just doesn't taste good-- definitely not something I would be excited about guzzling by the quart. I was concerned about the slow flow rate but other than that, the other "issues" weren't really an issue for me. I received my shipment from the infowars shop in about a week and a half (despite the blizzard the midwest was hit with during my shipment period). When I got my system, I was so excited to get it put together. I should put out a disclaimer that I do not usually assemble things and this was very easy to put together. I couldn't even assemble a simple corner shower shelving unit-- assembling is definitely my husband's area of expertise, not mine. With that said, it was crazy easy. I think you would have to have monkey brains to be confused about set up. I quickly washed the unit and assembled the glass spigot in less than 5 minutes. The next step- flushing the black filters was super simple. I was generous in the amount of time i let each filter sit under the running faucet- probably 2 minutes for each one. And again- installng the black filter was super simple. Install rubber washer, place in hole, put other rubber washer on screw thread and put on wingnut and tighten. From opening of the box to letting filling the unit was maybe 20 minutes (this includes washing of the unit and flushing of the black dome filters). It did take about 4.5-5 hours to let the water run through the first time. This I expected based on the other reviews. As the instructions said- I dumped the first batch of filtered water. Installing the fluoride filters was just as easy. I refilled the unit (all 4 gallons) and let it sit over night. When I woke up in the morning, there was still about an inch and a half of water above the domed black dome filters. I pitched all the water in the unit at this point (the instruction manaul says not to drink the first run of water after installing the new fluoride filters). So again, I refilled the unit (this was about 8:30 am). By 10:30 am it had probably filtered through about a gallon and a half of water I'd say. And by 12, it was back to about an inch above the dome filters. At this point, i decided to add a little bit more water to the unit- about half a gallon. The more water in the top portion the faster the flow rate- but you have to be careful not to go crazy with keeping it full. Id say as long as the top chamber is half way full AND you are taking water out of it periodically to drink/cook with you will be fine, otherwise you run the risk of major overflow. By 4 pm my glass spigot indicated that my bottom portion was full and when i peeked into the top chamber, the water level was about a half inch around the black dome filter (so about 2/3 of the domes themselves were exposed to the air). Yes it takes longer to filter probably than a Berkey- but that first glass of fresh clean water from my Propur and I knew I'd made the right choice. The water tastes clean- like spring water. I thought going from the RO water I'm used to to Propur water filtered from city tap water would be night and day difference but I'm pleasantly surprised. RO water and Propur water taste different. It's like drinking Aquafina (RO) and then picking up a bottle of bottled spring water. Both are good and refreshing-- and I'd be happy to drink either. But knowing that there is no fluoride and that the minerals are left for my body to enjoy- my mason jar will always be full of my Propur water, no doubt. My advice to you if you are considering this unit would be to buy the next size bigger than you need. I can see the frustration of not having a big enough unit and having to wait the 4ish hours to be able to get a considerable amount of water out of your unit. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 small children. There is no way we will drink 4 gallons of water every day so i think the King size is more than enough for us. I would say that a family of 6-8 would probably run through the whole unit's capacity/day. Just top off you unit the night before and you should be good to go. Again- I've had this unit for about 24 hours now so who knows- maybe after a few weeks of use I will be ready to send this thing south- but i don't see that happening. I'll try to get on here to update as to whether the flow rate gets better or if I figure out any other "tricks". Oh- and the metal stand- yes....glad i bought it! We have a small kitchen and so our unit has to sit in the corner. Without that stand, it would be awkward to get a pot or a cup underneath. To give you an idea of how tall the stand is- I'm able to put my quart sized mason jars underneath and fill with ease.

PS- Because of the slow flow rate, I cannot at this time, recommend a propur as a first choice for a bug out or emergency situation (though believe you me, if I have to head for the hills and this is all I've got, I'm grabbing it and running!) Other than that- for use in home or RV I think it's a very good purification system.

**UPDATE**
I've been using this thing for 4 days now. I have zero complaints about this system and after "breaking it in" I would honestly trust this system in a bug out/emergency situation to keep my family healthy. Every time I fill it, the flow rate gets faster and faster. This morning, I filled it at about 5 am and by 7 am it was full. At the time of filling, the bottom resevoir was about 1/4 of the way full-the top was empty. So it filtered appx 3 gallons in 2 hours. Not bad. Not bad- and I have the fluoride filters which is supposed to slow down the flow rate too. Again, I've never used a Berkey but I don't think 1.5 gallons/hr is too bad. I'm certainly not complaining. That's more than plenty of water for my family. Thanks Propur- I LOVE this thing. I'm now officially a "water snob" thanks to you!
