Product Description

Distillation effectively removes contaminants such as bacteria, particles, dissolved solids and VOCs. Ordinary tap water is heated to 212°F, (100°C) killing bacteria, cysts and viruses that may be present. Steam rises leaving behind dissolved solids, salts, heavy metals and other substances. >>> Using your Waterwise 4000 is very simple. Fill the stainless steel boiler with tap water, press the start button, and soon you will enjoy refreshingly pure water- the best that has ever passed your lips! When you are not distilling water, the handy collector bottle fits inside the distiller for compact storage and portability. Post filtration is used as a final treatment to effectively remove VOCs (volatile organic chemicals).

Waterwise 4000 Water Steam Distiller - Glass Jug / Container Review

Note::: this is a review of the old model that had the plastic water container. Amazon has changed the description to show the newer 4000 with the glass container. (10/1/11)

We bought our distiller, which is like this one, years ago under the Kenmore name. We purchased it because we moved into a house with well water and we were expecting our first baby... and well, you know how it is, we were worried about water quality.

Well our darlin' is now 9 years old and the distiller is still going strong, providing us with flavorless water for drinking. Having lived with well water now, I can tell you that it prolongs the life of coffee machines and steamers by reducing mineral deposits on heating elements and what-not.

And we liked this machine enough that we have purchased another Waterwise unit. This second unit is more attractive, but to tell you the truth, I like this older version better. For one thing, it doesn't have any plastic tubing which can crack and/or leave plastic particles in the water.

If appearance isn't a problem, I'd definitely buy this distiller. This system is just simple and best. Ours has run for years and the only thing I would do differently is that I would clean it with vinegar more often so the mineral deposits wouldn't build up and make the interior so unaesthetic.

Notes: Like our other Waterwise, this distiller is fairly noisy.
