I have used OMNI filters for many years and have used many different types.

I thought I would try this item for my filter setup. The setup is a 3 stage type:

1:dirt,rust,and just stuff.
2:some form of carbon filter for taste and smell.
3:VOC and some other bad stuff,0.5Micron or less to be safe.

This was in #2, I could smell a faint "Boiled EGG" smell during a 15min flush. I figured it was flushed out and put the #3 filter in (a OMNI CB3A type) and flushed that filter.

I got a clean glass and took a sip. Still a faint "Egg" taste and smell. I let someone else try and same thing.
I took this filter out and flushed my #3 filter for 15min. Mr."Egg" gone. The other taste tester said the same.
The filter still had the smell in the center (water out side) and with the filter gone the water is now fine so I know the C-5M was "the bad Egg".

I don't think I will try another carbon type filter from Purenex or its other names again.
