iSpring 75GPD 6-Stage Reverse Osmosis Alkaline PH Water Filter System with Booster Pump 110V & 220V Review

I'm very pleased with the quality of the unit and the water it produces. It took me about 2 hours to install it. I'm not a plumber but using the included instructions which is for a 5 stage unit I was able to complete the install. Most of the lines on the unit itself are preconnected. The instructions direct you to flush the tank once. I recommend you flush it several times. At first there was an odor to the water if I left it in an enclosed water bottle. I thought it was sewer gas but I now believe it was an odor coming from the new tank. After draining the system 4 times there is no smell from the water at all. My tap water contained 383 ppm TDS. My RO is producing water anywhere from 10-18 ppm TDS. I plumbed this into my refridgerator for water and ice. I highly recommend this unit for anyone who is interested in that. The booster pump is very quiet. The sound is similar to when the compressor kicks on for my fridge but much quieter. From what I've seen so far, it takes less than an hour to refill the tank after draining it completely empty.

My only complaint is that the unit arrived with two broken brackets for the alkaline filter. I contacted amazon and they sent me a partial refund for the inconvenience. By far this was the best customer service experience I've had with amazon.

I highly recommend this unit to anyone who might be considering it.

Anyone that has looked very long knows that this is the best passive water filter around. I looked everywhere for this item. This is the best price/deal around. Delivery was fast, Packing was great, communication great. FYI the Berkey comes with some plugs for the top tank so you don't have to use all the filters at once. It also comes with a black anti-scoot ring that goes around the bottom of the unit to prevent scratching counter tops. An additional item to look for and buy is a site glass for the bottom tank so you can see how full/empty it is.

I agree that the statement of 2 gal per minute is slow, which is why I use the AP in bathroom sinks and allow all the cold water to go thru the filter. They still last about a year. According to CUNO, technical service, it is time to replace the filter when you see a drop in the flow. That shows the filter is blocked. In my kitchen I have mounted a Whole House Filter. This gives me a flow rate of 5 gal per minute, which is higher than the faucet allows you. Standard Faucets are set to 2 1/2 gal per minute. I inserted a charcoal filter in my housing, available both thru CUNO or Home Depot Lowe's etc. Again the filters last at least a year. I used to live in New York City in a building that was made with galvanized pipes and was 100 years old. The pipes had lots of rust in them and dirt, The Whole House Filters took out everything and lasted more than a year. I would change them every January just out of guilt so to speak. They filters are so cheap why not change them? I now have them in my home under both my sinks in my kitchen. One I have plumbed to filter all the water going to my Instant HOT and also to the cold water side of my faucet at the same time. This way when I want a drink of water it is filtered when I cook pasta it is filtered when I make coffee or tea it is filtered. etc. I also put a whole house filter with a dirt and sediment filter (not charcoal) in the line feeding my hot water tank. This keeps the tank clean and that will make the tank last a lot longer than if I did not filter out the water going into the tank. That is why manufactures suggest you drain the tank once a year to get rid of the sludge found in the bottom of the tank, I used to drain it but now there is nothing in the bottom of the tank due to the filter. I do not work for CUNO, I just like their products. And I was a contractor for 27 years. I installed them in the 600 kitchens and baths I did all over NYC.

Imperial Berkey w/ 2 BB's Review

My wife and I drink more water now. It even tastes better--or rather, you can notice the lack of metals and chemicals. We are super happy that we got this and we recommend this to everyone.

My only quibble with it is that because of the positioning of the spout (it's not at the very bottom), not all of the filtered water can pour through the spout. So there is always some water left over. However, this just gets mixed in with the filtered water eventually.

It took about 2 days for setup and priming. There is just 2 of us using this, and we have to refill it every other day. It works out perfect.

HINT: we bought a little rolling stand/cart which it sits on top. When we need to fill it, we just roll it over to the sink. Our facet has a pullout spray nozzle which can extend and reach the Berkey. Super easy to fill and no mess.

Hydro Life G 2625 Water Filter for HL 170 - Threaded Review

Update 4/28/12 - back to buy a yearly replacement - $4 more this time around. Appears Amazon has corrected the photo.

This item is Hydro Life #HL-170 TF. The photo shown of this product is incorrect: it is a #3 and has threaded ends and no tube. Fortunately it is what I needed for my rig. It seems to work well at making drinking water taste good and it says it "significantly reduces" many contaminants that a carbon filter doesn't. However, I cannot find any specific data. I even emailed Hydro Life but they never responded.
If you are near a Camping World and in their Presidents Club, it is $5 cheaper less any sales tax. It is about $8 cheaper at online RV suppliers but they charge $16 for ground freight. So if you are a Prime member, this is the best deal.
