Product Description

This Pentek RFC20-BB carbon filter cartridge reduces chlorine taste and odor in residential and commercial drinking water. It is made of granular activated carbon (GAC) media with a spun polypropylene core and polypropylene end caps for strength, and there is a nitrile butadiene rubber (Buna-N) gasket to ensure a watertight seal. The filter has a porous polyethylene 70-micron outer shell to reduce carbon fines and other suspended particles in the filtered water. It will reduce free available chlorine (FAC) at 2 parts per million (ppm) by at least 75% in up to 70,000 gallons at a flow rate of 4 gallons per minute (gpm). The filter has an initial pressure drop of 0.90 pounds per square inch (psi) at a recommended flow rate of 4 gpm, and operates over a temperature range of 40 to 125 degrees F (4.4 to 51.7 degrees C). This carbon filter cartridge is used for treatment of residential and commercial drinking water.

We use this to remove chlorine from our water, and it does that well. Also removes some sediment. We have it set up as a whole house filter; I replace it every 4 months. Contrary to another review, this carbon filter does NOT remove dissolved metals like lead or iron.
